Absence & Medical

ABSENCES

Obviously we want to see all your children in school every day and on time so they get the best learning experience possible. However we do appreciate that there are times when this isn't always possible. For those times, please follow the procedures below so that the absence is reported correctly on your child's school record.

PROCEDURE FOR REPORTING ABSENCES

The whole school absence procedure from Nursery to Year 6 is as follows:
On the first day of absence please ring our school office on 0161 483 3699, choose option 1 and record your child’s name, class and give a specific reason for the absence and if you can indicate how long your child will be absent. There is no need to ring everyday but if your child is absent for more than initially expected please ring with an update.
If the above procedure is not followed then a text message will be sent on the first day of absence. If there is no response following the text, then the absence is recorded as unauthorised.

ABSENCE IN TERM-TIME

Any absences in term-time must be requested before the actual absence. A form is available from the office or can be downloaded from the link.
Once we receive the request it will be passed to the Head Teacher and a copy will be returned to you with the approval or unauthorised decision.
Our term dates with inset days are on the website.

LATES

All pupils who arrive when the gates are closed need to be signed in at the school office as the registers will have already been called in the classrooms and we need to know who's here for fire regulations and safeguarding.

We have an InVentry touch screen system located at the office window for you to sign your child/children in.

MEDICAL

APPOINTMENTS

Please try and make medical appointments outside school hours wherever possible. However, if this is an impossibility, please show the school office the letter/text/email to note on your child’s attendance record.

MEDICINES IN SCHOOL

We are able to give medicines in school if it is prescribed by a doctor and is 4 times a day. Therefore, please bring the medicine to the school office where you can complete a 3A Permission form (or download it via the link) so that we can administer it.

INHALERS

If your child has an inhaler complete a form 3A- Permission form ( available from the office or download it from the link)  and give to your child's teacher along with the inhaler and spacer. The inhaler must be in the box with your child's name on it.

OTHER

PARENTPAY

We have a cashless system called Parentpay for you to pay for school trips etc and to enable you to choose a school meal for your child. In order to access the system, you require a username and password. A letter is produced with temporary login details and is issued to you when your child starts at our school.
